Stokes Aster - Blue Danube

The Stokesia 'Blue Danube', Stokesia, has unusual, fluffy, lacy, sky blue flowers on 12-18" stems. It blooms in sun or shade and is lovely for beds or borders, so best planted in small groupings. The flowers are long lasting and great as cut flowers. Easily grown in average, medium, well-drained soil in full sun. Tolerates filtered sunlight, but prefers full sun and likes moist, sandy soils, but has surprisingly good drought tolerance.

Wet soil in winter is the main cause of death for this plant. A well-drained soil is essential. This low care perennial does best when spent flowers are deadheaded, which will encourage additional bloom.
