Pumpkins - Montana Jack

Montana Jack Pumpkin promises no more green pumpkins! This great carving pumpkin turns orange in a short season. Bred by Dr. John Navazio, it was selected for its early maturity in cool northern summers. Its thick flesh makes for great pies. The round Jack-o-Lantern shape of Montana Jack ranges from 8 - 15 lbs. Pumpkins love a sunny spot and the more sun the better. Choose a place that gets at least 6 hours of direct sunlight every day. Wait until all danger of frost has passed and the soil has warmed to about 70 degrees. Direct seed 1 to 1 1/2 inches deep into hills or rows. Sow 4 to 5 seeds per hill. Space hills about 4 to 8 feet apart. When the plants are 2 to 3 inches tall, thin to 2 to 3 plants per hill by snipping off unwanted plants so you don't disturb the roots of the remaining ones. Montana Jack has a good storage life. . ... get more information
