The Peony Shawnee Chief, Paeonia 'Shawnee Chief' has deep red blossoms and is one of the most vigorous growers of all the peonies. Peonies are one of the best cut flowers and are often used in the Midwest to decorate gravesites on Memorial Day. All of our peonies are widely adaptable to most soils across the country. They bloom in mid to late spring and have very large, colorful blooms that stand out in the spring garden. Peonies can handle dry to moist sites, and do best in full sun but can handle some light shade. Often thought of as a plant used on the farm or out in the country, they bring a little bit of that country feeling to your garden. Astilbe - Lollypop The Astilbe ‘Lollypop’, Astilbe japonica 'Lollypop' (PP11,966), is a colorful feathery flower with hot pink blooms, dark purple stems and dark green shiny foliage. Astilbe ‘Lollypop’ blooms in early summer. Astilbes are grown most successfully in rich soil and under partial sun. The biggest key to successful growth of your Astilbes is water. . they require a lot of water. The soil must remain moist. If the soil drys out the plant will falter quickly, especially in the sun. Fertilize Astilbes in late spring before the flowers emerge.
