Chesnok Red Organic Garlic (Hardneck) has very large bulbs that contain 9 to 10, nicely colored, easy-to-peel cloves. It is especially good for baking and holds its shape, keeps its flavor, and develops a delightful aroma. This flavorful garlic is nice and full, but with a mellow aftertaste. It can only be stored up to 6 months, but the intense flavor that remains, even when cooked, more than makes up for this short storage life. Chesnok Red originated from the Republic of Georgia. Garlic survives bitterly cold winters underground and then grows rapidly when the weather warms in spring; bulbs in summer. Garlic needs fertile soil with lots of organic matter. The soil needs to remain uncompacted through the long growing season.
