Corn - Flour Corn - Painted Mountain - Org

Painted Mountain Organic Flour Corn is adpated for the cold, mountain regions of the arid west. It is very early, tolerates high winds, cold nights and drought while producing beautiful sleek 7" ears in a full range of colors. Like its name, this corn has a rainbow of colors and makes an excellent variety for decoration. Vivid oranges, golds, reds, and purples make the brightest fall harvest decorations. The vigorous plants are easy to grow. The short, stout plants matured two weeks before all other ornamental varieties in our trials. Plant just before last frost. Painted Mountain is bred to be the hardiest corn in the world. This multi-purpose corn can be eaten as sweet corn or hominy, or ground for use as an excellent flour for tortillas and corn bread. Also used as an ornamental in craft projects utilizing the multi-colored stalks and husks. It needs hot weather, plenty of time to ripen, and plenty of room to grow. It likes loose soil with a high compost content. Sow seeds directly outdoors 1 week after the last frost in full sun. . ... additional information
