Coleus - Freckles
The Coleus Freckles, 'Coleus hybrid', has creamy yellow foliage with bronze and orange splotches. These new, bigger, sun loving varieties have revolutionized contanier gardening. The brilliant colors explode in sunny locations. Coleus plants are durable and easy to grow. The coleus plants are a tender perennials. Frost will cause them to die immediately. Coleus plants are so colorful that many people keep them and use them as a house plant. These plants will do best in temperatures above 55 degrees. Flower buds should be pinched off as soon as they develop. If a coleus plant is allowed to seed, it has completed its life cycle and will die. Coleus must have good soil drainage. Poorly drained soils and excessive watering will damage coleus. Plants suffering from "wet feet" will be stunted, leaves will turn a muddy brown, and leaf margins will be scorched. Daisy - Springstar Mira The Daisy Springstar Mira, 'Osteospermum ecklonis', was bred by Kientzler of Germany. The Springstar Mira, a Proven Selections plant, produces beautiful deep magenta flowers. Daisy's require a sunny spot with fertile, well-drained soil and should be kept well watered in the summer. Daisy's may be used as a cut flower and they are excellent in window boxes, pots, and rock gardens. The daisy is attractive to bees, butterflies and/or birds, plus they are resistant to deer. These daisys are winter hardy to USDA Zones 10-11 and they are grown as an annual in other cooler climatic zones. The deeply cut, dark green leaves are aromatic when bruised. For zones 9-11, this plant can also be a perennial. |
