Clematis - Pink Flamingo
Clematis Pink Flamingo, Clematis 'Pink Flamingo', is one of the earliest and most profusely flowering clematis varieties. The show begins already in April and continues through June, followed by decorative seed heads later in the season. The soft pink 1. 5" flowers have a deep pink blotch at the base of each sepal that streaks out through the veins. A very hardy variety that is ideal as a groundcover or as a climber. Clematis 'Pink Flamingo' needs a supporting structure to grow properly. Clematis is easy to grow in a rich, porous, alkaline soil with plenty of room for the roots to spread. Best performance is when the tops are in full sunlight and the roots are shaded, so apply a generous mulch or a shallow-rooted ground cover near the base of the vine. Very reliable performers once established; they take a season or two. Prune only after flowering is completed by removing any weak or dead stems.
